Audacity

"Audacity is a simple sound editing program that can be downloaded for free on the Internet. While it is fairly easy to use, some people may find it difficult to get started. Click on the logo below for instructions on how to create a simple (podcast) project." (wikiHow)

Audio podcasts are simple sound recordings that are uploaded into a separate podcast aggregator or podcatcher that catalogue them for broadcasting on the internet. Audacity is just one tool that is used in the more complex process of "making" that includes decision making, evaluation and reflection.

With Audacity students can record their own voice reading story, poetry, and script; they can record interviews; they can even record original music tracks. The recordings can then be uploaded into Web 2.0 communication projects like wikis, ABEL Moodles, blogs, VoicethreadAnimoto, or websites.

With a microphone headset and a quiet room in the library, our students record a narration voice track over each image slide in Photoshop Elements. Once images and narration are saved, a music file is uploaded, either their own original music or a licensed track, and save.  The complete digital story may tell a story of imagination or commitment to cause.
