"Our videos may surprise you. They're short and simple. They use paper cut-outs. They cover subjects "in Plain English." But lurking under the simple surface are lessons that have been crafted with great care. Despite our fun and lighthearted style, we take explanation seriously."  CommonCraft 2011 http://www.commoncraft.com/about/who

Common Craft make "In Plain English" videos that are simple teaching tools. Students like these videos because they're humourous, short, and provide just enough detail to engage student interest. Once engaged students can search the web for chat forums, downloads and directions. Some videos are instructional, some are cautionary, all are educational. Critical thinking kicks in when a student asks: What can this tool do for me, good or bad? How can I use this tool, not just to fulfil the assignment but to make a difference in the world around me. With social media every student has the potential to collaborate with other students locally, nationally, and internationally.

Common Craft videos can be viewed by any internet user who visits the Common Craft page. If a school wishes to license a video for professional use you can learn about Common Craft's licenses on the How To Buy - Overview

Common Craft has four categories of videos: Green, Money, Society, and Technology. The technology titles (listed in the chart below) are short, thought provoking explanations of sometimes difficult concepts - more often than not it's the teacher who needs the explanation, not the student (think Augmented Reality or BitTorrents). In fact, Twitter In Plain English is their most popular video.
