The MacArthur Foundation is a philanthropic organization committed to public education. They award $240 million annually in grants across 65 countries.
Four years ago, after 26 years of support of schools, they made a significant shift:
from education in specific kinds of buildings to a shift toward learning which can happen anywhere and anytime;
from focusing on how and what kinds of information students consume to how they participate in learning and how they produce;
from focusing on institutions to focusing on the learner.
This forum, entitled "The Power of Youth Voice," brought together experts in digital media and learning to share their research and experiences using digital media in and outside of the classroom. Moderator: Connie Yowell, Director of Education, MacArthur Foundation.
